Governor Andy Beshear Calls for Prayers and Support

On June 29, 2023, Kentucky Judge John J. Williams was tragically shot and killed in his chambers at the Nelson County Courthouse. According to Governor Andy Beshear, Williams was shot multiple times by a suspect who entered the courthouse and opened fire. The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Allen Waide, was apprehended by law enforcement and charged with murder.

Investigation Ongoing:

Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the shooting. Governor Beshear stated that there was no known prior connection between Williams and Waide. The Kentucky State Police are leading the investigation, and federal agencies are assisting, including the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).
