Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen Tosses 5 Scoreless Innings In Win Over Rangers

Gallen's Strong Outing

ARIZONA, United States — Zac Gallen delivered a strong outing on the mound for the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday, tossing five scoreless innings in a 5-2 win over the Texas Rangers.

Gallen allowed just three hits and two walks while striking out seven batters.

It was the second straight strong start for Gallen, who has now allowed just one earned run over his last 10 1/3 innings pitched.

Offensive Support

The Diamondbacks provided some offensive support for Gallen, scoring three runs in the second inning off Rangers starter Dane Dunning.

Ketel Marte led the way with a two-run double, while Nick Ahmed added an RBI single.

The Diamondbacks added two more runs in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Marte and an RBI single by Carson Kelly.

Bullpen Performance

The Diamondbacks' bullpen turned in a strong performance, with four relievers combining to allow just one run over the final four innings.

Ian Kennedy pitched a scoreless sixth inning, while Joe Mantiply, Tyler Clippard, and Mark Melancon each allowed one hit over the final three innings.

Melancon earned his 11th save of the season with a perfect ninth inning.

What's Next

The Diamondbacks will continue their series against the Rangers on Thursday with a 6:40 p.m. MST first pitch.

Merrill Kelly will start for the Diamondbacks, while the Rangers will send Martin Perez to the mound.
