Bucs Divisional Rival Loses Star Player for 2024 Season

Former NFL MVP Tears ACL, Sidelined for Season

Atlanta Falcons' Quarterback Matt Ryan Out for the Year

The Atlanta Falcons have suffered a major setback ahead of the 2024 NFL season, as star quarterback Matt Ryan has reportedly torn his ACL during a recent training session. The injury is expected to sideline the veteran signal-caller for the entire upcoming campaign.

Ryan, who won the NFL MVP award in 2016, is widely considered one of the best quarterbacks in the league. His absence will be a significant blow to the Falcons' offense, which has already undergone significant changes in the offseason with the departure of several key players.

The Falcons have not yet announced a replacement for Ryan, but several candidates are likely to be considered. Backup quarterback Marcus Mariota, who started seven games for Atlanta last season, is the most experienced option on the roster. Rookie Desmond Ridder, who was selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, could also be in the mix for the starting job.

The Falcons are scheduled to open the 2024 season on September 11th against the New Orleans Saints. It remains to be seen how they will adjust to life without Ryan, but the loss of their franchise quarterback is undoubtedly a major setback for their hopes of competing in the NFC South.
